Barrier-free tour of the Holiday and Resort Park Weissenhäuser Strand
The starting point is the check-in for holiday park guests at the bottom right of the map.
To the right of the building there are car parking facilities (P2) and charging points for electric vehicles. When you leave the building on the left-hand side, there are more car parks on the left (P).
If you continue along the footpath to the right, there is a tennis court on the left that directly adjoins the adventure golf course. On the right there is the outdoor terrace of the Dschungelrestaurant and the entrance to Abenteuer Dschungelland (there is a separate map). From here, the path is covered by a continuous glass roof.
Next on the right is a large adventure playground with tyre swings, climbing elements and children's bumper cars. Opposite there is the ‘Die Alm’ event location, and in the neighbouring building there is the bike rental where you can also register for Adventure Golf. To the right of the playground there is the ‘Geheimrat Ladisch’ play ship. Behind it there are the ‘Am Park’ holiday homes which can be reached via paved paths. The entrances are accessible at ground level or via flat ramps.
The Dünengalerie is on the left-hand side. There are catering facilities and play areas here. First there is the Hops Shop, from which you get to the Donut Disco. Opposite there are spaces for pushchairs and a small climbing area. About 20 metres further along on the right-hand side there is the Osteria with Italian cuisine and seating on both sides of the corridor. To the left of the Osteria there is the Heimspiel game centre. Both areas are at ground level and have a barrier-free access via the side entrance of the Osteria.
The Möwenbräu Baltic restaurant is located above the Osteria and Heimspiel and can be reached via a lift. The lift is located opposite the American Diner, which is on the left-hand side about 200 metres behind the Donut Disco. The entrance to Subtropisches Badeparadies is located directly adjacent (there is also a separate map for this). To the right there is Grandmas Coffee & Candy with seating areas on both sides of the corridor.
When you leave the Dünengalerie you get to the central village square. Here you will find, among other things: EDEKA grocery store, boutique, Fisch & Meer, bakery, stage, ATM, launderette, service point, feedback terminal, KidzClub and the guest studio. Most of the facilities have a barrier-free access and there is seating with sun protection. On the right, a path leads to further play areas and back to the dune promenade.
If you follow the path straight ahead, you will find the ‘An der Düne’ holiday homes and hammocks to relax in on the right. Behind it, you can reach the entrance to the 4-star Strandhotel via Vogelsand-Weg, where charging points are also available. To the right there is the conference centre with conference rooms. The hotel itself houses the Sonnenrose restaurant, the reception, the Dünenbad with sauna area, the wellness area and the hotel bar. All areas inside the building are interconnected and have barrier-free access. Wellness treatments can be booked directly at the Dünenbad reception in the hotel.
The ‘Am Wald’ holiday homes are located behind the hotel. Behind these there is the large hotel car park, below which is a volleyball court with barbecue facilities, archery and streetball. Directly below there is a large grassy play area which is also equipped with big football goals. If you follow the path from the hotel car park further down, you will get to the Waterpark (separate map available), petting zoo, Blacknose sheep, football golf and the beach riding school.
These areas are also accessible via the main road. If you follow the main road back to the information centre, you will reach the other holiday homes and houses as well as additional parking spaces on the left. The Luv & Lee holiday homes which are arranged in a ring shape and can also be reached via short footpaths are particularly popular, as are the ‘Am Dorfplatz’ holiday homes which are located in front of Subtropisches Badeparadies seen from the main road.
The beginning of the dune promenade is behind the ‘Am Park’ holiday homes. It runs directly in front of the Weissenhäuser Brök nature reserve with an unobstructed view of the dune landscape. Several paved paths lead from the promenade directly to the beach. After about 300 metres towards the east you reach the dog beach. If you go straight ahead, you will find an area with barrier-free toilets, showers, nappy-changing room, first aid station and DLRG (German Life Saving Association).
To the left there is the beach chair rental with kiosk and the sail and surf rental (Svens Surfsation) as well as the Bröker Beach Bistro and the newly built pier. The dune promenade runs through the entire holiday park area from Abenteuer Dschungelland to the car park of the 4-star Strandhotel. It is wide and fit for traffic on its entire length which makes it ideal for walking, wheelchairs, wheeled walking frames and pushchairs. Numerous benches and rest areas along the path invite you to linger.
There are also other car parks, playgrounds, rubbish bins and sanitary facilities scattered around the park. These are mainly located on the beach at the Bröker Beach Bistro, at the information desk, in the Waterpark and at the Heimspiel game centre.
